I conduct my business in accordance with current recommendations from the World Health Organisation regarding the Covid19 outbreak. I aim to stay up to date with recommendations and to adjust my business practices where necessary. I have completed the COVID-19 Infection Control Training Model.
If either myself or the client is unwell or has Corona Virus symptoms (COVID-19) such as sore throat, respiratory illness, fever or body aches, they are to advise the other party and seek medical attention.
According to the NDIS document “Coronavirus (COVID-19): Behaviour support and restrictive practices” as a provider I will brief NDIS participants about changes to their day-day activity plans:
· To allow the person to exercise choice and control over decisions that affect them.
·Speak to them about COVID-19 and seek their input about sudden changes to their activities due to the measures being implemented.
·Provide them with the right information and seek their views, as this will help you develop different strategies and approaches.
·Share information about adjustments and changes that may happen because of medical isolation and/or due to the closure of services.
This means, in the event of sickness either the participant or the provider will inform the other party and we can discuss the kind of support that is required and whether there are acceptable ways of accommodating so the support can be delivered in methods with less risk to the health of all involved ie remotely.
MANAGING HEALTH RISKS
In the Home
When I am working in a client’s home I will wash my hands frequently and use hand sanitiser and follow the 1.5 meter social distancing rules. If either myself or the client is unwell or has Corona Virus (COVID-19) symptoms such as sore throat, respiratory illness, fever or body aches, they are to advise the other party and seek medical attention. If required support can be offered remotely for the day with most tasks able to be completed from my home or over the phone, zoom or other arrangements.
In Public
While some sessions are conducted in public, where practical I will and can offer services online or the phone. When I bring clients out in public, I will ensure that we do not use crowed spaces and the places we visit adhere to current COVID-19 recommendations. We will not visit any hotspots or places undergoing contact tracing. I will use hand sanitiser and ensure I take responsibility for my own health by not attending appointments when I am sick. I will wash my hands frequently and use hand sanitiser and follow the 1.5 meter social distancing rules.
Travel
If travel interstate is required, we will assess where we are going and any hotspots along the way. We will avoid all hotspots or areas under contact tracing and if required we will cancel travel plans. This is dependant on the reason for travel such as travelling for medical needs.
Community Infection
In the event of widespread community infection and transmission rates in the ACT I will follow all Government Directives and protocols as they are announced. Services may need to be delivered remotely until restrictions can ease. I understand if this is difficult, under some circumstances it will still be acceptable to continue face-to-face sessions as long as it is permitted by the current restrictions and directives given at the time. This will be a case-by-case basis to ensure the safety of clients but also to ensure that clients can still receive care and a say in what that care looks like.
Contacts
Please call the Coronavirus Health Information Line on 1800 020 080 if you are seeking information on COVID-19. The line operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Please note this line will not be able to support any queries regarding this document or my business.
You can always contact me to discuss any concerns about your support.
